A South African DIY creator is proving that one person's empty coffee jar is another person's centrepiece, and thousands of people online are taking notes. TikTok creator @diybyndivhuwo posted a video on 24 October walking viewers through creative ways to repurpose Douwe Egberts glass coffee jars.

She transformed them into lamps, decorative containers, and other home accents. Filmed across a bathroom, kitchen, and dining area, the tutorial carries an upbeat, hands-on energy that has clearly struck a chord.
One of her key pieces of advice is refreshingly simple: do not be too rigid with your ideas. "Don't be too strict on yourself. So whatever idea that you have, you need to run with it," she said in the video.
The DIY enthusiast @diybyndivhuwo also cautioned viewers against spray-painting jars they plan to use for food storage, recommending that painted projects be reserved for decorative purposes only.
She also teased something to look forward to, urging followers to keep an eye out for limited-edition Douwe Egberts décor jars, each inspired by a local artist. Watch the coffee jar upcycling tutorial that has South Africa talking:
