The Confederation of Economic Associations of Mozambique (CTA) received a delegation from the Police Sciences Academy (ACIPOL), led by its rector, Rodrigues Nhiuane Cumbane, on Wednesday for a meeting to discuss cooperation between the private sector and public security training in Mozambique.

The main opportunities for cooperation identified during the meeting included setting up a professional internship programme in the private sector, particularly in strategic and sensitive economic areas, for ACIPOL final-year students and ACIPOL staff; conducting applied research focused on the business sector and real-world business problems such as internal and external theft and robbery, which can account for production losses of 10% to 20%; and promoting knowledge-sharing and training by involving the private sector in the training of future police officers, thereby helping police officers better understand the dynamics and needs of economic activity.

As follow-up actions, CTA and ACIPOL agreed to establish a joint technical team tasked with drafting a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU). They also agreed to draw up a technical timetable for defining the scope of internships and research topics. Finally, an institutional visit by CTA to ACIPOL’s facilities will be organised to learn more about its infrastructure and training programmes.
