After just two games into the 2026-27 regular season, the Oklahoma City Thunder will look to shake up their roster. They have reportedly signed Micah Peavy to a two-way contract, per ESPN's Shams Charania. Remains to be seen whose spot he takes, but the most likely candidate is Otega Oweh — who sustained a season-ending torn Achilles tendon in preseason.
Peavy is a 2025 NBA draft selection. He was the No. 40 pick out of Georgetown. He spent his rookie season with the New Orleans Pelicans. He averaged 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 61 regular-season games. He was traded to the Memphis Grizzlies in Sept. 2026 and subsequently waived on Oct. 19.
Think it was only a matter of time before Oweh was waived, unfortunately. The Thunder need a healthy player for their third two-way, so Peavy was the best available option. He now joins Brooks Barnhizer and Josh Dix in the trio. All three have 50 regular-season games where they can be active. Also expect plenty of G League run with the OKC Blue.
If Oweh does end up getting waived, there's still a decent chance he remains in OKC as a Blue player. He'll spend the 2026-27 season rehabbing his torn Achilles tendon. Next summer, he could work his way back to a two-way deal if he shows enough burst. He was the No. 41 pick of the 2026 NBA draft.
Former Pelicans second-rounder Micah Peavy has agreed on a two-way NBA deal with the Oklahoma City Thunder, sources tell ESPN.
