Uzbekistan will introduce a simplified system for assigning state pensions to citizens in stages, according to the Ministry of Justice. The measures were established under Government Resolution No. 576, dated October 19, which outlines changes to the procedures for assigning and paying state pensions.
The new system will be tested between October and December 2026 in the Andijan, Samarkand, Khorezm and Syrdarya regions. In Andijan region, the pilot project will cover Andijan city and Oltinkol district. In Samarkand region, it will be implemented in Samarkand city. In Khorezm region, the project will cover Urgench and Khiva cities, as well as Shovot and Yangiarik districts.
In Syrdarya region, the changes will apply to all district and city branches of the Pension Fund. Under the pilot project, responsibilities for assigning and paying pensions and other benefits will be transferred to the regional offices of the Pension Fund. Three-member commissions will be established within the regional offices for each district or city.
Employees responsible for providing direct services to citizens will remain stationed at district and city branches. Amendments have also been introduced to the regulations governing the assignment and payment of state pensions.
Under the new procedures, several pension-related services will be provided proactively, without requiring citizens to submit applications. These include the continuation of disability pension payments following the reassessment or extension of a disability group. Pensions will also be recalculated automatically when a citizen is assigned a Group I disability.
The continuation of survivor's pension payments following changes in the number of family members will also be handled without an application.
The new procedures also cover additional allowances for citizens who reach the age of 100. The assignment and payment of these allowances will be carried out without requiring an application. Pension payments will also continue without an application when a citizen's ID card expires or is renewed before its expiration date.
Under the resolution, the relevant commission must issue a decision within ten days of receiving an application. The Pension Fund has been instructed to introduce a mechanism for verifying the identity of pensioners residing outside Uzbekistan within one month. The verification will be conducted through the MyID information system to confirm pensioners' eligibility to continue receiving payments.
Earlier, it was reported that certain employees in Uzbekistan could be granted early retirement pensions following their dismissal.
