Amanda Seyfried has revealed how she turned down a TV role because it would have meant filming sex scenes ‘all the time’.
The Mean Girls star, 40, opened up about how her attitude towards intimate scenes has changed during a panel hosted by Alec Baldwin at the Hamptons International Film Festival last week.
‘Our jobs are weird,’ she said, according to People magazine. ‘And as I get older, it gets weirder. We have to be romantic with people that we’re not romantic with.’
Amanda admitted she used to be far more relaxed about filming passionate scenes, even enjoying the prospect of kissing an attractive co-star.
‘Sometimes it’s great. Sometimes it’s really uncomfortable,’ she said. ‘But I can’t believe back in the day I was just like, “We gotta make out. Great! This is awesome. I know how to make out”.’
The actress said intimate scenes were once ‘a non-thing’ to her, adding: ‘It was like, “I get to make out with a hot person today … And they’re paying me”.’
But her feelings have shifted over the years, with Amanda revealing she passed on an unnamed series because of how often she would have to film sex scenes.
‘I passed on a show where I would have to have sex all the time because of the sex,’ she said.
‘Doesn’t matter [who it’s with]. I don’t wanna do it. I’m uncomfortable with it. I’m not into it right now.’
Amanda, who shares two children with her estranged husband, actor Thomas Sadoski, also said her kids are becoming more aware of her work.
However, she hasn’t ruled out filming intimate scenes in the future.
‘Maybe if [the project] came along again [at a later point], maybe I’d be in a different space,’ she said. ‘But I don’t wanna deal with being naked with a stranger.’
