The Los Angeles Rams are looking at two experienced options to address their kicking situation after Blake Grupe landed on injured reserve with an ACL injury. L.A. is working out veterans Brandon McManus and Matt Prater this week, according to NFL Network's Mike Garafolo.
Grupe injured his knee while attempting to make a tackle on the kickoff immediately after converting a 44-yard field goal in his Rams debut. He was unable to return, forcing punter Ethan Evans to handle kicking duties for the remainder of the game.
McManus and Prate both a lot of NFL experience to the table.
McManus, 35, spent the past two seasons with the Green Bay Packers, making 44 of 51 field-goal attempts (86.3%) across 25 games. He converted 24 of 30 attempts (80%) in 14 appearances last season, along with 32 of 33 extra-point attempts.
A nine-year veteran of the Denver Broncos, McManus has also played for the Jacksonville Jaguars and has converted 82% of his field-goal attempts over his 12-year career.
Prater, 42, brings even more experience, having played 19 NFL seasons. He spent the 2025 season with the Buffalo Bills, converting 18 of 20 field-goal attempts (90%) and 46 of 49 extra-point attempts.
Prater has made 83.8% of his field-goal attempts throughout his career, appearing for the Bills, Arizona Cardinals, Detroit Lions, Broncos and Atlanta Falcons.
The Rams are looking for stability at kicker after releasing Harrison Mevis following a difficult performance against Buffalo in Week 5. With Grupe now sidelined, Los Angeles will need another option ahead of Sunday's game against the Las Vegas Raiders.
