The Antigua and Barbuda Festivals Commission (ABFC) has announced Justin ‘Jus Bus’ Nation as the winner of the competition to design the official logo for the National Performing Arts Centre (NPAC), following final selection and approval by Cabinet.
Nation’s design will serve as the Centre’s official visual identity, marking a significant step in the development of an institution dedicated to artistic excellence, cultural preservation, creative innovation and talent development.
The Government of Antigua and Barbuda and the Commission have congratulated Nation on his achievement and thanked all participants whose entries reached the final 50. The quality, originality and creativity demonstrated throughout the competition highlighted the depth of artistic talent across Antigua and Barbuda.
Inspired by Antiguan and Barbudan culture, the winning logo uses the colours of the national flag to represent the interconnected elements of the performing arts and cultural identity.
Red symbolizes movement, dance, passion, and the dedication behind every performance.
Black represents the Congo drum, reflecting rhythm, heritage, and our enduring African roots.
Yellow embodies music, creativity, melody, and joyful self-expression.
Blue celebrates the people who create, preserve, and advance our culture every day.
Reflecting on the inspiration behind the design, Nation shared: “I wanted an identity that honours where we come from without limiting where we can go. The movement. The rhythm. The melody. The people. These are not separate stories; they are all part of the same cultural journey. Our culture is always evolving, shaped by the people who live it. That’s what ‘Bring Our Culture. Shape Our Identity’ means to me.”
The Commission thanks all entrants and stakeholders who contributed to this initiative describing the selection as an important step towards a vibrant future for the performing arts in Antigua and Barbuda.
