Michigan will start a different quarterback this Saturday in its showdown against No. 6 Indiana in Ann Arbor.
According to On3’s Pete Nakos, Michigan will start Tommy Carr in place of Bryce Underwood. This follows Underwood’s absence in the second half of last Saturday’s game against Penn State.

Carr came in for Underwood in the second half and helped Michigan beat Penn State 21-18, finishing with 47 passing yards and one rushing touchdown.
Why Kyle Whittingham is making the right move
Underwood has really struggled in the first half of the season, completing only 58.1% of his passes for 924 yards, five touchdowns, and six interceptions. Even in games that Michigan won, he still didn’t play that well.
Michigan is 4-2 through six games and hopes some time on the sideline will benefit Underwood. This is his second season with the program after finishing the 2025 season with 2,428 yards through the air, 11 touchdowns, and nine interceptions.
Carr did enough in the second half of the Penn State game and will now get to see what he can do in a full game against one of the best teams in the country.
Kickoff for Saturday’s game will be at noon ET on Fox.
