An American tourist jumped into Tuyen Lam Lake in Da Lat of Vietnam's Central Highlands on Oct. 23 and swam out to rescue a woman struggling in the water.
The woman got into difficulty at nearly 4 p.m. near an observation tower by the lake's main dam in Xuan Huong-Da Lat Ward, Lam Dong Province.

The tourist, identified only as Laszlo, was nearby and swam more than 20 m from the bank to reach her, bringing her back to shore in nearly two minutes.
A representative of the lake's tourist area management board said the woman was then taken for emergency treatment and is now safe.
The water at the spot is about 3-4 m deep. How she came to fall into the lake is still being looked into.
Laszlo, around 50, is on vacation in Da Lat and staying at a hotel there. The management board plans to meet him alongside local authorities early next week to thank him for the rescue.
Tuyen Lam Lake, a national tourist area about 7 km south of central Da Lat, covers around 320 hectares. Small islands dot its surface, pine forest surrounds it and one of its arms holds a flooded forest.
