Lufthansa is Europe's largest flag carrier for flights, which is influenced by its overall scale and having two large hubs. Between November and next August, the carrier plans an average of 299 daily departures from
Frankfurt Airport (FRA) and 205 from
Munich Airport (MUC).
The German giant has some notable network developments. For example, it'll reintroduce service from FRA to Kuala Lumpur later this month, while it revealed last week that it'll be resuming two routes to Japan after a reasonably long absence. Of course, it is not only about additions.
Lufthansa Ends Flights To These 11 Airports
In 2026, schedule analysis using OAG data shows that the
Star Alliance member has ended service to the following places. No flights are bookable to any of them through August 2027, not even to the destinations ordinarily served in the summer.
The picture is not entirely this simple. Nearly half have simply switched to another unit within the Lufthansa Group. They're indirectly served by the airline, just with a different, more suitable platform. Most of those that are not in this position can still be reached by using the carrier's codeshare or alliance partners.

Discover Will Discover Glasgow
Lufthansa debuted at Glasgow International Airport (GLA) in April 2013, when Eurowings' CRJ900s arrived from Düsseldorf International Airport (DUS) with the LH IATA code. The link had shifted from Edinburgh Airport (EDI), from which it had operated for three years.
After DUS-GLA service ended in September 2014, flights from MUC materialized in May 2015, followed by those from FRA in March 2018. Regular flights from MUC ended in October 2019, leaving only FRA-GLA. Lufthansa pulled out of GLA on October 3, 2026. However, it still serves EDI (around an hour away) from FRA (two to three daily) and MUC (weekly to daily).
In 2025, the UK Civil Aviation Authority shows that the carrier transported 156,024 passengers between GLA and FRA, with a load factor of 75.7%. As usual, this is just one performance metric, and it should not be considered in isolation. While the fares needed to achieve it are unknown, it was lower than the airline's overall result from FRA (83.8%) and for FRA-EDI (78.2%).
It was originally planned that the Group would not fly to GLA at all, consolidating at EDI instead, just like WestJet will in 2027. However, Discover Airlines, with its lower-cost platform, will fly from both FRA and MUC to GLA, which demonstrates that the routes are lower-yielding than those to EDI. Starting on March 29, 2027, Discover will fly up to six weekly from FRA to GLA, followed by MUC on May 16 (up to two weekly). Passengers can connect to Lufthansa flights at both hubs on the same ticket.
Lufthansa Has Stopped Flying To Two Polish Cities
Neither Bydgoszcz nor Rzeszów, which is near the Ukrainian border, are now part of Lufthansa's network. The carrier flew to Rzeszów between April 2009 and January 2022, and again from April 2023 until April 2026. At times, a double-daily service existed. Meanwhile, Bydgoszcz was on Lufthansa's map from March 2015 to March 2020 and then from April 2025 until April 2026.
Their removal means that Lufthansa now flies to five cities in Poland. It serves Gdańsk and Poznań from FRA, while Kraków, Warsaw, and Wrocław have flights from both hubs. In total, the carrier's capacity to Poland in 2026 is at the lowest level since 2023. This is partly because fellow Star Alliance member and codeshare partner LOT Polish Airlines has been growing in Germany, with the most capacity for seven years, albeit only from its Warsaw hub.
