Three Samsung Electronics products — a smartphone, a refrigerator and a gaming monitor — were named to TIME magazine's "Best Inventions of 2026."
Three Samsung Products on TIME's List
According to the list released by TIME on the 15th, Samsung Electronics' Galaxy S26 Ultra was selected in the consumer electronics category, the Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator in home appliances, and the Odyssey G8 in entertainment and gaming.
TIME selects innovative products each year based on originality, effectiveness and impact. This year it named 300 inventions and 100 special mentions.
The Galaxy S26 Ultra was recognized for its privacy display feature, which blocks viewing of the screen from the side. The feature can be turned on when needed or applied only to specific content such as pop-up notifications, making it more versatile than conventional privacy screen protectors.
Released in March, the device also carries Galaxy AI features including Now Nudge, which suggests information based on the user's situation, along with a 200-megapixel wide-angle camera.
The Bespoke AI Family Hub refrigerator was cited for its AI Vision technology, which automatically identifies food items using an internal camera. Users can check their food inventory through the SmartThings app and use the AI Food Manager to track expiration dates or receive customized recipe recommendations.
The 32-inch Odyssey G8 gaming monitor was recognized as the first gaming monitor to support 6K ultra-high resolution. It offers a Dual Mode that switches between 6K at 165Hz and 3K at 330Hz, and also applies HDR10+ Gaming technology, which adjusts picture quality to match game scenes.
Samsung Named for Sixth Straight Year
Samsung Electronics has placed products on TIME's Best Inventions list every year since 2021.
The Galaxy Z Flip3 was selected in 2021, the Galaxy S22 Ultra in 2022 and the Galaxy Z Flip5 in 2023.
In 2024, the Neo QLED 8K and the Music Frame picture-frame speaker were chosen, and last year the Micro RGB TV, The Frame Pro and The Premiere 5 made the list.
This year, with a smartphone, a home appliance and a gaming monitor selected at the same time, the company drew recognition for its technology in appliances and displays as well as mobile devices.
Apple Also on List, Along With AI, Medical and Space Technology
New products from global technology companies also appeared widely on the list.
One example is Apple's first foldable smartphone, the iPhone Duo. Set for release on the 23rd, the device marks Apple's entry into the foldable market and drew attention as new Chief Executive Officer John Ternus appeared on TIME's cover.
LG Electronics' OLED TV was also named to this year's Best Inventions.
In artificial intelligence, Anthropic's coding tool Claude Code and Google's AI-generated content identification technology SynthID were selected.
Claude Code is a tool that uses AI to write and revise program code. SynthID is a technology that helps identify content such as images and video generated by AI.
Nvidia's AI agent technology NemoClaw was also chosen. Agent technology, in which AI carries out multiple tasks on a user's instructions, drew attention as a major area of innovation.
In health care, Amazon's Pharmacy Kiosk was selected. The unmanned device provides pharmacy services and was introduced as a technology that improves access to medications.
Amazon also placed Proteus, a logistics robot that moves on voice commands, on the list.
In space, the National Aeronautics and Space Administration's Nancy Grace Roman Space Telescope was selected. It is a next-generation observation instrument for studying dark energy and exoplanets.
