KUALA LUMPUR: Terengganu's plans to strengthen their squad during the January transfer window have been disrupted after FIFA placed the club under a registration ban.
The suspension took effect on Oct 14, according to FIFA's registry.
However, the exact reason for the sanction remains undisclosed.
The east coast side have yet to issue an official statement, raising questions over their recruitment strategy ahead of the mid-season transfer period.
If the ban remains in force, Terengganu will be prevented from registering new signings, potentially hampering head coach Nafuzi Zain's plans to reinforce his squad for the second half of the season.
The restriction will remain until the underlying issue is resolved, requiring club management to clear the dispute before adding players.
Terengganu are not the only Malaysian side facing FIFA sanctions.
KL City were also placed under a registration ban on Oct 15.
The City Boys are reportedly facing a three-window ban linked to outstanding payments owed to former player Patrick Reichelt.
