Gabby Williams has responded to the recent respect she has been getting in the media.
Williams has been in top form for the Golden State Valkyries during their postseason run.
They are set to kick off their seven-game WNBA Finals series against the Atlanta Dream this weekend and Gabby is expected to have a key role in any success the Valkyries achieve.
At the time of writing she has averaged 22.7 points per game in the postseason, making her one of the top five offensive leaders.
However, while Williams is being acknowledged for her ability, she has now said she doesn’t care if the media are praising her.
Gabby Williams doesn’t care if media praise her
In a clip shared by Meghan L. Hall, she said: “The media’s never respected me. I’ve never expected them to. So that’s always been in the back of my head. Not in the back of my head, but I’ve never paid any mind to it.
“So, if media’s praising me now, I don’t care.”
Instead, Williams said she has been more touched by the praise given to her by veteran players like Sue Bird.
Golden State are now competing in their first WNBA Finals as they aim to ensure that the Atlanta Dream’s losing record (0-3) continues in the showpiece.
