Residents of Stubica in central Serbia were alarmed by gunfire during a military exercise in the village streets on Wednesday night, according to a woman who contacted N1.

She said residents were unable to obtain an explanation from military personnel at the scene and felt frightened, particularly because children use the streets. She also said some residents had video recordings but were afraid to publish them after being told not to film.
The Defense Ministry said the activity was a planned inspection of the operational and functional capabilities of a special military unit. It said a tactical scenario had been set up to test the unit's ability to perform tasks in an urban environment and that only blank training ammunition had been used.
The ministry added that authorities and organizations had been notified about planned exercises in the wider Pasuljanske Livade area, involving military vehicles, drones and training ammunition. It did not specifically address residents' claims that the activity in Stubica had appeared unexpected or that soldiers had failed to explain what was happening
