Social media users question whether lightning caused crane fire near LRT station
A VIDEO showing a crane on fire near the LRT Ara Damansara station has attracted attention on social media, with users speculating that lightning may have caused the incident.
The video, shared on Threads by user @nizamsya.ar, included a warning for those heading to the station.
“Hati-hati yg pergi LRT Ara Damansara. Kren terbakar betul sebelah station,” the user wrote, warning commuters that a crane was burning right beside the station.
The post prompted comments from other users, some of whom said there had been intense lightning in the area.
One user, @naz.zahraa, said lightning had flashed repeatedly shortly before the incident.
“Tadi kilat kuat gila memancar sana sini. Agaknya terkena kilat lah kot,” the user commented, suggesting that the crane might have been struck by lightning.
Another user, @daisyroundthewheel, expressed relief that it was raining at the time and hoped nobody was on the crane when the fire broke out.
“Nasib baik tengah hujan,harap2 takda orang kat atas tu,” the user wrote.
Meanwhile, @kamondirr also questioned whether lightning had struck the crane, saying there had been intense lightning in the area earlier.
“Kena panah kilat ke? Td kilat gila2 kat sini,” the user commented.
However, the cause of the fire has not been confirmed. It also remains unclear whether anyone was injured or whether train services were affected.
