A former Senator, representing Ogun Central, Iyabo Obasanjo, has appointed a former senior journalist with the British Broadcasting Corporation, Gbolahan Peter Macjob, as her spokesperson.
This is contained in a press statement sent to The Eagleonline.
The statement pointed out that the appointment was in a move to draft the experienced media professional into the former lawmaker’s communications team.
Macjob is expected to draw on his journalism and media experience in communicating Obasanjo’s positions, activities and public engagements.
His professional profile and published work affirm experience in broadcast journalism, including contributions to BBC reporting.
His appointment comes amid renewed political activity involving Obasanjo, the daughter of former President Olusegun Obasanjo.
Iyabo Obasanjo represented Ogun Central Senatorial District between 2007 and 2011 and previously served as Ogun State Commissioner for Health. She later pursued an academic career in the United States before returning to active politics in 2026.

Her return to the political scene has attracted attention in Ogun State, where she has been involved in political developments ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Macjob’s appointment places media communication at the centre of the former senator’s public engagement, with his experience in news gathering and broadcasting potentially relevant to managing communications across traditional and digital platforms.
The appointment also highlights the movement of professionals with experience in international media organisations into Nigeria’s political communication space, where public figures increasingly rely on strategic messaging and timely engagement with the media.
In addition to his journalistic experience, Macjob, also a filmmaker brings his expertise in the creative sector – Nigeria’s second largest employer after Agriculture and one he’d be keen to scale up across Ogun Central.
