Wexford is welcoming a number of new gardaí to the area following the recent Templemore graduation of over 200 members.
In particular, Senator Cathal Byrne has welcomed the allocation of two newly attested Gardaí to Enniscorthy Garda Station from the graduating class, celebrating the large number of new members entering the force.
He highlighted that the 207 probationer Gardaí attested form Intake 261 was the largest single attestation cohort to pass out from Templemore since 2019.

“With these new members, An Garda Síochána now stands at 14,825 sworn Gardaí, the highest number in the history of the force. Seventy-six are going to the Eastern Region, which includes the Wexford/Wicklow Division,” he explained.
He added that Budget 2027 will provide funding to support the recruitment of up to 1,000 new Gardaí next year.
“I welcome the two new Gardaí assigned to Enniscorthy Garda Station and wish them the very best in their new careers. I will continue to push for more Gardaí for the town and the wider area.” he said.
