Sony's PlayStation Direct US store is taking $40 off when shoppers buy a certified refurbished PS5 ($499 Digital Edition or $549 disc model) together with a certified refurbished DualSense ($59, or $64 for Volcanic Red, Sterling Silver and Cobalt Blue).
GTA 6 is almost here, and Sony has cut the cost of a two-controller PS5 setup on its US store ahead of the launch. PlayStation Direct now deducts $40 at checkout when a certified refurbished PS5 and a certified refurbished DualSense controller are bought together, which brings the extra controller down to $19.
Sony sells the refurbished PS5 Digital Edition (slim model) for $499 and the refurbished disc version for $549. Refurbished DualSense controllers cost $59 in white, Midnight Black, Cosmic Red, Galactic Purple, Starlight Blue and Gray Camouflage. Pairing one of those with a console brings the total to $518 for the Digital Edition and $568 for the disc model once the discount applies.
Volcanic Red, Sterling Silver and Cobalt Blue controllers cost $64 each, so choosing one of these metallic finishes adds $24 to the console price after the discount. A disc console with one of them totals $573 at checkout, while the Digital Edition version comes to $523.
PlayStation Direct lists a new PS5 Digital Edition at $599, a new standard disc PS5 at $649 and a new Midnight Black DualSense at $74. Buying a new console and a second new controller therefore costs $673 for the Digital Edition and $723 for the disc model, $155 more than the matching refurbished bundle in each case. A refurbished disc console with a second controller also costs $31 less than a new Digital Edition on its own.
Sony added $100 to the US price of both standard PS5 models in April and raised the PS5 Pro from $749.99 to $899.99. The refurbished consoles now sell for roughly what new units cost before that increase.
Sony says every certified refurbished product goes through full testing against the same functional standards as new PlayStation hardware. Both the consoles and the controllers carry a 12-month manufacturer's warranty, although Sony states that they may show minor cosmetic imperfections. Each console ships with one DualSense, and the disc model's vertical stand is sold separately for $29. Online multiplayer still requires a paid PlayStation Plus subscription.
Rockstar Games has scheduled GTA 6 for November 19, 2026, on PS5, PS5 Pro, Xbox Series X and Xbox Series S. Digital pre-loading opens on November 12, and Rockstar has not announced a PC version.
The bundle discount applies only on PlayStation Direct's US store. Sony labels it a limited-time offer and has not listed an end date on the product page. Standard delivery is free on orders above $40, and PlayStation Direct accepts free returns within 30 days.
