The Director-General of the Kadri Obafemi Hamzat Governorship Campaign Organisation, Senator Musiliu Obanikoro, has said the newly commissioned PBAT-KOH Lagos Central Campaign Headquarters will strengthen political coordination and grassroots engagement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Obanikoro, who was speaking to media men at Lagos Island on Tuesday, said the facility would serve as a central hub for coordinating campaign activities, engaging stakeholders and mobilising party members and supporters across the Lagos Central Senatorial District.
The headquarters, located at 2 Joseph Harden Street, opposite Eleganza Building, off Broad Street, Lagos Island, is designed to coordinate political activities across the five local government areas in the district: Lagos Island, Lagos Mainland, Surulere, Apapa and Eti-Osa.
The facility is expected to provide space for campaign planning, strategic meetings, stakeholder engagement and other activities aimed at improving coordination among political leaders and grassroots structures.
It has 16 offices, including one designated for the governorship candidate, as well as a 500-seat auditorium and two conference rooms with capacities for 40 and 15 people, respectively.
According to information provided by the centre’s administrator and coordinator, Mr Bolaji Yusuf, the facility also has a clinic and an outdoor event space with seating for 150 people.
The project was facilitated and principally financed by Engr. Tayo Bamgbose-Martins, while Yusuf is responsible for the administration and coordination of the facility.
Speaking on the significance of the headquarters, Obanikoro said its establishment reflected the importance of having an organised structure for political engagement and mobilisation across the senatorial district.
“Beyond the commissioning ceremony, our priority is to ensure that this headquarters becomes a functional centre for coordination, engagement and grassroots mobilisation.
“We want a structure that brings party leaders, community representatives, youth groups, women and other stakeholders together to discuss issues affecting their communities and strengthen participation in the democratic process,” he said.
The director-general said sustained engagement with residents would be crucial to understanding their concerns and communicating the campaign’s programmes and priorities.
He added that the facility would promote collaboration among party members and campaign organisers, helping to coordinate activities across the five local government areas.
The headquarters is dedicated to the political support movement for President Bola Tinubu and Hamzat, the All Progressives Congress candidate for the 2027 Lagos State governorship election.
The commissioning comes as political parties and support groups begin strengthening their organisational structures ahead of the 2027 general elections.
In Lagos, campaign coordination across the senatorial districts is expected to involve party leaders, community stakeholders, political appointees and supporters working through local government and ward-level structures.
The new headquarters is expected to provide a common base for these activities in Lagos Central. Its effectiveness, however, will depend on how well it facilitates coordination, community engagement and communication among the campaign’s various stakeholders.
