The founder and senior pastor of The Latter Glory Church in Ongata Rongai opened up about the devastating losses, illness and financial difficulties that marked a difficult chapter of her life.
Rev. Zainab loses dad after husband's death
Zainab recalled becoming a widow when her son was only eight years old, leaving her to navigate life without her husband while caring for their young child.
However, her troubles did not end with the death of her husband. She also lost a two-year-old child, a tragedy that left her sick, frustrated and depressed.
The successive losses took an emotional toll on Hussein, who found herself struggling to cope with grief while facing uncertainty about her future.
Following her husband's death, Hussein was forced to leave government housing and return home, adding to the difficulties she was already experiencing.
Her situation became even more painful when her father, whom she described as her support system, also fell ill and died.
Reflecting on the successive tragedies, Hussein suggested that the grief surrounding the death of her husband and child had taken a toll on her father.
“The death of my husband and my boy took a toll on him, and he passed on,” she wrote.
With her mother living far away, Hussein said she found herself without the dependable support system she had relied on during difficult moments.
She was unemployed, unwell and struggling to find hope as she attempted to make sense of the losses that had changed her life.
Prayer became her companion
Despite the difficulties, Hussein said she continued holding on to her Christian faith, even when her circumstances failed to improve.
She explained that although she had already given her life to Christ, she still had to contend with painful experiences that left her overwhelmed.
“The only thing I knew how to do was to pray. Mimi na maombi ni marafiki kabisa,” she stated, adding that prayer became the one thing she knew she could turn to.
Looking back, Hussein now describes her life as one marked by faith, grace and numerous testimonies, crediting Jesus Christ for the transformation she says she has experienced.
As the founder and senior pastor of The Latter Glory Church, she uses her platform to encourage others facing difficult seasons not to lose hope.
“Nakupea hii story ndio ujue, hakuna kitu Jesus hawezi fanya. He changes lives, He heals, delivers and blesses people,” she wrote.
Hussein also expressed gratitude for being alive, describing life itself as a miracle she cherishes every day.
Her account offers a glimpse into the personal struggles behind her role as a religious leader, as she reflects on the losses that marked her past and the faith she says helped her navigate those difficult moments.
