STOCKHOLM – The Government of Pakistan has decided to replace the existing machine-readable passport (MRP) system with e-passport, according to a public notice issued by the Embassy of Pakistan in Sweden.
As the issuance of MRPs will be stopped from October 15, the embassy has issued the fee structure in Swedish Krona for Pakistani citizens residing in Sweden.
Under the announced rates, fees will vary depending on the passport’s validity period, booklet size and processing category, with separate charges for normal and urgent applications.

For a 36-page e-passport valid for five years, applicants will pay SEK 370 under the normal category and SEK 600 for urgent processing.
The fee for a 10-year passport of the same size will be SEK 540 for normal processing and SEK 860 for urgent processing.
For applicants seeking a 72-page passport valid for five years, the charges will be SEK 650 for normal processing and SEK 1,040 for urgent processing. A 10-year, 72-page e-passport will cost SEK 950 under normal processing and SEK 1,510 for urgent processing.
