Eintracht are hoping to build on their first home win of the season when they travel to Borussia Dortmund on Saturday – one of the “toughest matches of the season”, but also an “awesome” one.
Backdrop
Adi Hütter had called on his team to “run until you can’t anymore and fight for every inch” before the home game against 1. FC Köln. The Eagles duly obliged and picked up an important three points with a 1-0 win.Meanwhile, Borussia Dortmund drew 0-0 at Union Berlin and are still without a win since the international break, having also drawn 2-2 against Werder Bremen in the league as well as suffering a 1-0 defeat at FK Bodö Glimt in the UEFA Champions League.
BVB are in European action again on Tuesday at Sabah FK before the meeting with Eintracht on Saturday evening (24 October, 18:30 CEST).
‘Throw everything at it again’“We have to throw everything at it again in Dortmund,” stated captain Robin Koch, who was a tackling titan against Köln, winning 19 of 22 direct duels – on the ground and in the air. “We showed how we need to perform against Köln. Dortmund away will certainly be one of the toughest matches of the season – but it’s always an awesome match, too.”
Looking back
Eintracht haven’t had much to show for their trips to Dortmund in recent years. In fact, the Black and Yellows have won 14 of their last 15 Bundesliga home matches against Frankfurt. Only in April 2021 did the Eagles emerge victorious after a 2-1 win – coached at that time by Hütter.
BVB have kept a clean sheet in four of their six league games in 2026/27 and conceded four goals overall, the fewest in the league. Both goalkeepers, Noah Atubolu and Gregor Kobel, registered shutouts on the last matchday.
“We keep going and want to have more clean sheets,” highlighted Eintracht keeper Atubolu ahead of the outing in Dortmund. Another one would do very nicely on Saturday evening at Signal-Iduna-Park.
