Seoul's Geumcheon-gu district has established the Geumcheon-gu Children's Choir as the first project funded by the Hometown Love Donation system, a tax-incentivized program encouraging donations to one's registered hometown and is recruiting 42 members through the 23rd of this month.
Applicants must be children and teenagers aged 7 to 19 who live in Geumcheon-gu or attend a school in the district.
Members will be selected across six categories, including soprano, alto and tenor. Applicants can download forms from the Geumcheon-gu Office website and submit them by email.
The district is also recruiting accompanists and instructors.
Selected members will perform at regular concerts at Geumnarae Art Hall, local festivals and national choral competitions after taking part in scheduled rehearsals.
Geumcheon-gu has been collecting hometown love donations since 2023 and had built up a fund of 180 million won ($126,000) as of the end of September.
