RIYADH – Saudi-led coalition forces have intercepted and destroyed four drones approaching Madinah and operating over eastern regions of Saudi Arabia, according to the coalition’s spokesperson.
The spokesperson confirmed that four drones had been destroyed but provided no further details in the information released.
Meanwhile, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi has said that neither Saudi Arabia nor Yemen’s Houthi movement has responded to Tehran’s offer to mediate between the two sides.
Speaking in an interview with Iraqi television, Araghchi said no response had been received to the mediation proposal, which he made earlier this month amid an increase in Houthi attacks on Saudi Arabia.
Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said the conflict in Yemen could not be resolved through the use of force. He called for reconciliation and negotiations between Saudi Arabia and Yemen as the way forward.
Baghaei also said the Yemeni people had endured what he described as an inhumane and illegal blockade for years. He added that the situation had changed, stressing that the approach of carrying out attacks and withdrawing was no longer sustainable.
Commenting on the United States, Baghaei said Washington had a record of breaking agreements. He added that Iran would use both diplomatic and military means to protect its interests.
The Iranian spokesperson also clarified that a meeting with a Russian delegation had not included discussions on nuclear issues.
