Speeding car hits roadside divider at Bamunigaon; locals suspect abduction after spotting young woman inside
BOKO, Oct 25: Three persons have been detained by Boko police following a dramatic incident at Bamunigaon in Assam’s Kamrup district, where a speeding car rammed into a roadside divider, triggering suspicions of a possible abduction.
The incident involved a Hyundai i20 (AS 01 DX 5856), reportedly travelling towards Goalpara. Local residents became suspicious after noticing a young woman inside the vehicle and intercepted the occupants before handing them over to the police.
Boko Police Station Officer-in-Charge Munna Pasni said an investigation was underway. Police suspect a possible link to the drug trade, though the allegation has not yet been established.
The detentions followed a complaint lodged by three individuals from Manipur, identified as Thangkha Hao, Chatmin Khang and Sara.
The three detained persons have been identified as Faridul Islam, a resident of Lakhipur in Goalpara district; Amidul, from Baruajhar in Darrang district; and Abbas Ali, from Ulubari in Darrang district.
The incident reportedly involved allegations of unruly behaviour inside the vehicle. However, the circumstances surrounding the car crash, the presence of the young woman and the suspicions raised by local residents remain unclear.
Police said further details would emerge as the investigation progresses.
