Grand Theft Auto 6 is currently only announced to come to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S on November 19, but many will likely wait for the game to come to PC, as these games always do. However, a new report from Games Beat suggests that they might not have to wait very long at all.
According to four of the outlet’s sources “familiar with the studio’s plans,” Rockstar is planning on putting Grand Theft Auto 6 on PC within the first quarter of 2027, meaning it should come to the platform sometime between January and March of next year.
If this turns out to be the case, it would be a much shorter length of time than fans had to endure for Grand Theft Auto V to launch on PC. The game’s original PS3 and Xbox 360 launch was in September 2013, and it took nearly two years before it showed up on PC in April of 2015. Though the last big Rockstar game, Red Dead Redemption 2, didn’t take quite as long, it was still a year between its PS4 and Xbox One launch and the eventual PC port in 2019.
While the wait is often frustrating, it does mean that PC players tend to get one of the best versions of the game in the end, and Grand Theft Auto 6 is the kind of game that begs for mods and other user-generated content, which will likely help sustain its community for many years to come. Whatever the case, we likely won’t hear specifics from Rockstar for some time, as the company likely doesn’t want to actively cannibalize any sales for GTA6 when it comes to PS5 and Xbox Series X/S next month. Of course, it’s going to sell a bazillion copies either way.
