Maryland fell to 0-3 in the Big Ten with a 45-16 loss at then-No. 5 Ohio State last week. Malik Washington got the Terrapins to within 14-10 with a five-yard touchdown run in the second quarter before the Buckeyes pulled away for a 31-10 halftime lead. Daniel Wingate scored the other Maryland touchdown, returning an interception 52 yards to the house late in the third quarter. The Terps managed only 146 yards of total offense inb the loss.
Rutgers returns from a bye week on the heels of a 47-15 loss to then-No. 6 Indiana on Oct. 3. The Scarlet Knights trailed 37-0 before backup quarterback AJ Surace found Ben Black III for a 53-yard scoring pass late in the third quarter. Clay Thevenin added a one-yard TD run early in the fourth for Rutgers. Surace threw for 128 yards on 6-of-10 passing after starter Dylan Lonergan went down with a head injury in the second quarter.
The Scarlet Knights won the last two meetings against the Terrapins, including a 35-20 win at home on Nov. 8, while Maryland leads the series 12-9.
Washington enters the game with 1,352 yards and seven touchdown passes with six interceptions while Chris Durr Jr. has 46 receptions for 476 yards and four scores. In four games, Lonergan has 775 yards with seven TDs and five picks, with Antwan Raymond leading the ground attack with 469 yards and four touchdowns. KJ Duff comes in with 33 catches, 628 yards and seven scores.
