The Super League of Malawi (SULOM) has revised the kick-off time for all FDH Bank Premiership matches from 2:30 pm to 3:00 pm with immediate effect, citing weather forecasts and a projected heatwave.

In a statement, SULOM said the decision has been made to protect players and match officials from the effects of the anticipated hot weather.
“In light of the weather forecast and projected heatwave, the Super League of Malawi wishes to inform all stakeholders and the general public that the kick-off time for FDH Bank Premiership matches has been revised from 2:30 PM to 3:00 PM, with immediate effect,” reads part of the statement.
The decision follows calls from various stakeholders, including sports journalists, who had urged the league organisers to consider adjusting match kick-off times in response to the prevailing weather conditions.
The revised schedule is expected to help safeguard the welfare of players and match officials as the league enters a crucial stage, with several important fixtures lined up for the weekend.
The weekend’s fixtures include a number of potentially exciting encounters involving some of the country’s top-flight clubs.
On Saturday, Mighty Wanderers will host Creck Sporting Club at Mpira Stadium in Blantyre, while Civo Service United face Goshen City Dedza Dynamos at Civil Stadium in Lilongwe.
Sunday’s fixtures will see MAFCO take on FCB Nyasa Big Bullets at Civil Stadium in Lilongwe, while Moyale Barracks host Silver Strikers at Mzuzu Stadium in Mzuzu.
Elsewhere, Red Lions will face Ekhaya at Zomba Stadium.
All the matches are expected to kick off at the revised time of 3:00 pm, in line with SULOM’s directive.
