Bollywood superstar Salman Khan was reportedly the original target of the shooters accused of opening fire at actor Tiger Shroff’s car in Mumbai.
The accused allegedly conducted reconnaissance near Salman Khan’s residence but abandoned their plan after noticing the heavy security arrangements outside his home. They subsequently shifted their focus to Tiger Shroff, reportedly after learning through social media posts that the actor did not have police protection.
According to reports, the firing incident took place on Sunday evening in Mumbai’s Juhu area, when Tiger Shroff was leaving Pushpa Narsee Ground after playing football, two men opened fire while a third accomplice waited nearby on a motorcycle. The attackers allegedly fired seven rounds before fleeing the scene.
The accused reportedly abandoned their motorcycle near Andheri West railway station before boarding a train to Jaipur. Mumbai Police arrested all three suspects within 24 hours, on Monday.
The accused have been identified as Hritik, alias Roshan, 22, from Begusarai in Bihar; Rehan, 18, from Sonipat in Haryana; and Phool Singh, 18, also from Haryana.
During interrogation, the suspects allegedly told investigators that they had initially travelled to Mumbai to target another high-profile individual. They reportedly monitored Shroff and his fans on Instagram to track his movements.
Following the incident, an associate of jailed gangster Lawrence Bishnoi, identified as Anil Pandit, reportedly claimed responsibility for the attack in an audio message circulated on social media. The message also contained threats against individuals associated with Salman Khan.
"I am Anil Pandit. I am like a younger brother to Lawrence Bishnoi. What happened with Tiger Shroff today, we take responsibility for that -- Harman Sandhu and myself," he mentioned.
He added that Tiger Shroff "was counselled, but did not understand us" and issued death threats to those linked to actor Salman Khan.
"In the entire film industry, whoever works without aligning with us, or works with Salman Khan, will be killed. This is the first and last warning." he said.
