Sean "Diddy" Combs' unexpected hospital visit last month now has an explanation, and it is far more mundane than the drama surrounding his incarceration might suggest.
A source close to the situation told Page Six that the 56-year-old music mogul accidentally struck his head on the bunk above him while confined at the Federal Correctional Institution (FCI) Fort Dix in New Jersey.
The insider added that Combs was doing considerably better following the incident, though no further details about his recovery were disclosed.
The clarification follows reports that Combs was transported by ambulance in the early hours of Saturday, 10 October, at approximately 1 am.
According to TMZ, the injury was described as non-life-threatening, and Combs remained conscious and responsive throughout.

His team acknowledged the situation publicly, with a representative telling Page Six:
"We are aware of the reports concerning Sean Combs and are working to confirm the circumstances. Sean's health and well-being are our immediate concern, and we appreciate everyone who has reached out."
P Diddy's prison life under scrutiny
The bunk bed incident lands at an already turbulent period in Combs' time behind bars.
In September, NBC News published allegations from four unnamed prisoners claiming the Bad Boy Records founder had fellow inmates assisting him with cooking and cleaning duties, and that he had access to both alcohol and a mobile phone while incarcerated.
In the wake of those reports, Combs was reportedly placed in solitary confinement, per TMZ.
His projected release date also shifted, moving from 21 January 2028 to 2 March 2028, according to Page Six.
TMZ additionally reported that he faced sanctions over alleged fights and unauthorised phone use, resulting in the loss of commissary privileges and good-time credit.
Why is Diddy behind bars?
Combs is currently serving a 50-month federal prison sentence after being convicted in 2025 on two counts of transportation to engage in racketeering.
He was acquitted on the more serious charges of racketeering conspiracy and sex offence, and has consistently denied any wrongdoing.
No evidence has emerged linking the head injury to the ongoing disciplinary matters or the allegations about his prison conditions.
