With a 2-4 record, the Dallas Cowboys’ hopes of making the playoffs are fading with each passing week.
There was plenty of offseason buzz surrounding the team — Dak Prescott called the team’s offense the “Greatest Offense There Is” and several analysts picked Dallas to make some noise in the postseason — the Cowboys are running out of games to salvage their season and live up to the hype.
However, owner/general manager Jerry Jones isn’t content to sit back and do nothing.
Speaking to reporters at the NFL fall meetings, Jones admitted that he’s exploring options to improve his roster and bolster the Cowboys’ chances of playing postseason football.
“Jerry Jones just told us at NFL Meetings that he would make a deal at trade deadline that could help team get better this year. He says Cowboys will not be sellers — unless a deal with Micah Parsons-like return comes their way to prompt reconsidering,” Yahoo Sports’ Jori Epstein posted on X.

The Cowboys have been linked to several trades over the last few weeks. The most popular trade rumor involves Arizona Cardinals Pro Bowl pass-rusher Josh Sweat.
“The Cowboys might have one more move in them,” ESPN’s Jeremy Fowler said. “Perhaps that’s shortsighted, given their 2-4 record. But that might as well be 4-4 in this season’s NFC East climate, where no commodity is proven and Philly’s transitional state has cracked the door open.
“As one team exec pointed out to me Tuesday, Josh Sweat to Dallas makes a lot of sense. He fits Dallas’ profile, and the Cowboys need edge-rush help. Sweat’s Cardinals won Sunday, but they are not contention-adjacent just yet. Sweat has been linked to the Packers, too, but Green Bay has Micah Parsons returning eventually.”
