Pakistan’s military has responded to unprovoked firing by Afghan Taliban forces in the Taida sector of Upper Kurram and the Ghozgarhi border area, security sources said.
Security sources said Afghan Taliban forces opened fire in the areas, allegedly to facilitate the crossing of Kharji terrorists.
The Pakistan Army responded with an effective retaliatory operation. In the Upper Kurram sector, Pakistani forces reportedly targeted the Afghan Taliban’s Top Sar post and the Shapola base camp with artillery fire.
Security sources said the Shipola base camp had been destroyed in the response. There were also reports of several Afghan Taliban personnel being killed during the exchange of fire near the Ghozgarhi border.
The sources further said Taliban personnel had abandoned a border post, while an exchange of fire was continuing in the area.
Security sources said the Pakistan Army remained on alert and committed to defending the country’s borders and safeguarding national security.
