CHANGWON — Seasonal oysters and scallops raised by young fishers in South Gyeongsang Province will be sold at a 20% discount on home shopping channels for two weeks starting on the 19th.
South Gyeongsang Province said 14 types of seafood produced by young fishers in the province, including seasonal oysters and scallops, will be sold at a 20% discount on GS SHOP for two weeks from the 19th. The event is a follow-up to a cooperation agreement signed in January between the South Gyeongsang Young Fishers' Association and GS Retail. It was arranged to secure sales channels for young fishers and to offer seasonal oysters and scallops to consumers at reasonable prices.
The provincial government is providing 20 million won ($14,000) in project funding, while GS Home Shopping will run the online discount event. During the event, buyers who purchase oysters, scallops and other products labeled with 'Badayoung,' the brand of the South Gyeongsang Young Fishers' Association, on GS SHOP will receive a 20% discount coupon.
"We hope this event will serve as an opportunity to introduce seafood produced by young fishers widely to consumers and to secure stable sales channels," said Lee Sang-hoon, director general of the provincial Office of Maritime Affairs and Fisheries. "We will continue to strengthen cooperation with large retailers to help young fishers expand their sales channels and increase their incomes."
