Gospel star Dumi Mkokstad's wife, Dr Ziphozenkosi Nzimande, has returned to social media after months of silence to issue an urgent warning about impersonation accounts. Her posts, shared on Friday 17 October 2026, landed at the height of controversy surrounding her husband, with many users connecting her words to the leaked DMs saga that had set social media ablaze days earlier.
The Nzimandes have been married since June 2019, when Dumi, whose full name is Mdumiseni Nzimande, celebrated seven years of marriage to Zipho, a haematology registrar. The pair have long been regarded as one of gospel music's most admired couples.
The drama began on 14 October 2026, when screenshots allegedly showing the celebrated South African gospel artist exchanging flirtatious messages with an unknown person began circulating rapidly across X and TikTok. The images divided opinions sharply, with some fans expressing disbelief while others questioned whether the material was authentic or fabricated.
Dr Zipho addresses the fake accounts
Zipho, who had not posted since July 2026, first flagged that unknown parties were using her identity to leave offensive comments on TikTok.
"Apparently I have been posting and commenting on people's statuses on TIKTOK saying vile things to people the last couple of days. It is not me," she wrote.
She then went further, opening up about the toll that ongoing impersonation had taken on her. "This is a major part of the reason why I don't post much anymore. My name has been dragged into things that I have nothing to do with for a while now. I am not sure why I am such a target, but it has been debilitating. Verify and authenticate EVERYTHING you see and read on social media. Many lives have been damaged because of it."
Zipho also revealed that there are over 200 fake accounts on TikTok using her name, and that at one point she called one of the scammers, only for her own face to appear on the screen.
Users react to Dr Zipho's words
Reactions poured in from social media users who were moved by her statement. Below are some of the responses:
