2. Get Out (2017)
The directorial debut of comedian Jordan Peele, Get Out is considered one of the best horror films of the 21st century. The film follows Daniel Kaluuya’s character Chris, a young black man, as he goes to meet the family of his white girlfriend Rose — played by Allison Williams — for the first time. He soon realises that their over-accommodating behaviour isn’t awkwardness from dealing with an interracial relationship, but instead is something much more disturbing. Mysterious events begin to unfold and as the child grows up, it becomes understood that he is the Antichrist. 4. Alien (1979)
Then there is classic sci-fi horror Alien from 1979. Directed by Ridley Scott, this film also kickstarted a huge franchise of films, TV shows and even video games. Starring Sigourney Weaver as the inimitable Ellen Ripley, Alien follows the crew of spacecraft Nostromo who decide to investigate a derelict vessel after intercepting a distress signal. Things soon spiral out of control when it becomes clear they are being hunted by a deadly alien which has invaded their ship.
