The Pittsburgh Steelers and quarterback Aaron Rodgers have looked the part of a potential contender in the AFC so far this season. Through the first six weeks of the year, the team holds a 4-2 record.
Rodgers has played well in what he has said will be his final NFL season. He has completed 61.4 percent of his pass attempts for 1,487 yards, 12 touchdowns, and five interceptions.
While the team has played decent football this season, the Steelers could still use more help. One area of need comes at wide receiver, where the team has performed under expectations.
All of that being said, Pittsburgh has been connected to a potential trade that would add another weapon for Rodgers.
Pittsburgh Steelers Linked to Intriguing Trade for New Wide Receiver
The Athletic has named the Steelers as a potential trade destination for Tennessee Titans wideout Calvin Ridley. In addition to Pittsburgh, they listed the Las Vegas Raiders and Seattle Seahawks as potential trade suitors for Ridley as well.
“Ridley took a pay cut this offseason to remain with the Titans. The Tennessee offense has been dysfunctional under coordinator Brian Daboll. Ridley had only five catches on 10 targets through the first six weeks of the season. He has been out-snapped by rookie Carnell Tate, free-agent addition Wan’Dale Robinson and second-year receiver Elic Ayomanor. Ridley does not have any guaranteed money on his deal after this year,” they wrote.
“There is some meat on the bone with Ridley. The route running and releases are still NFL quality. He was wide open for a touchdown in Week 6 against the Colts, and quarterback Cam Ward missed him. Ridley could still make an impact with better quarterback play and overall offensive infrastructure.”
So far this season, Ridley has barely had a role within the Titans’ offense. He has caught five passes for 81 yards. Last season, he racked up 303 receiving yards and no scores on 17 receptions.
Back in the 2024 campaign, the 31-year-old wideout showed off what he’s capable of producing. He caught 64 passes for 1,017 yards and four touchdowns.
Expect to continue hearing rumors about the Steelers as the November 10 trade deadline draws closer. Ridley is a name worth monitoring as a potential trade candidate, although no concrete reporting has connected Pittsburgh to him.
