Oppo Reno X may launch as company’s first wide bar phone: Here is what it might offer

Oppo, a Chinese smartphone maker, is reportedly developing a wide bar phone to explore new form factors in the smartphone category. Soon after a leak from Digital Chat Station, revealing details about its display, the key specifications of the handset are floating online. Citing DCS, X (formerly Twitter) tipster Ice Universe claimed the company is working on a new wide form-factor smartphone that may feature a 16:9 aspect ratio display. @UniverseIce further claimed the upcoming device could feature Low-Injection Pressure Overmoulding (LIPO) packaging technology.

Thanks to LIPO technology, the phone could offer “ultra-slim” and “symmetrical” bezels that could measure around 1mm and is anticipated to be 81mm in width. In comparison to current bar phones, it could be wider and more compact in appearance. Meanwhile, tipster Debayan Roy (@Gadgetsdata) added that it could be named “Reno X”, while leaking the expected specifications of the device.

The company’s wide-slab device is expected to sport a 6.35-inch 1.5K LTPO screen with a 120Hz refresh rate. It is expected to sport a metallic frame and rounded corners. Under the hood, the handset could run on a Dimensity 9000 series chipset. As for the battery, the device could get a 7,000mAh battery.

Speaking of the cameras, the device could offer a 200MP OIS primary + 50MP ultrawide + 200MP periscope sensor on the rear. Moving to the software, the handset could run Android 17-based ColorOS 17 out of the box. Leaks claim the wide-format phone may get dual stereo speakers, an ultrasonic fingerprint reader and a Vapour Cooling Chamber.

Oppo Reno X launch timeline (expectations)

According to reports, the smartphone may debut early next year in China alongside the company’s next foldable. The pricing of the smartphone remains a mystery as of writing this report. Meanwhile, coming to India-centric updates, the company is expected to unveil the Oppo Find X10 and Find X10 Pro Max smartphones, the Oppo Pad Mini tablet with an OLED screen and the Oppo Enco X4 TWS in India this month.
