A fast-moving wildfire has burned 22 acres and triggered evacuation orders in Southern California as Red Flag Warnings put the region on high alert for dangerous fire conditions.
The Peak Fire broke out shortly after 1 p.m. Thursday north of San Gabriel Canyon Road and Mirador Drive in Azusa, rapidly growing from a half-acre blaze to 22 acres, according to incident command.
An evacuation order was issued for zone AZU-MC01, with evacuation warnings in place for several surrounding areas as firefighters raced to protect threatened homes.
Structures were reported threatened on Foxtail Court and northeast of the fire, prompting crews to deploy for structure protection.
The blaze erupted as Southern California faces an elevated threat of wildfires, with a red flag warning in effect through Saturday.
