A family reconciliation effort unfolds in Nigeria after decades apart
Reflecting on the origin of the rift, Fatai stated that he took money from his father's company years ago, maintaining that the incident did not justify decades of separation.
According to a report by Daily Post Nigeria, Fatai remarked, “I did not embezzle much money, if it was much, I would have built house and bought planes and cars,”.
Over the years, Fatai has made repeated attempts to reconcile, including trying to approach his father during the businessman's 86th birthday celebration.
Clarifying that he is not seeking financial assistance, Fatai asked his father to overlook past mistakes.
He pleaded, “I'm begging my father. To err is human, to forgive is divine. He should please overlook all my behaviour then as a child,” adding that his father should “use his elderly wisdom to embrace us and bring us back to the family so that the issue can be settled once and for all”.
In addition to Fatai's appeal, his daughter Zee expressed her desire to help reunite her father with her grandfather.
