Former Florida football quarterback Anthony Richardson was arrested for possession of marijuana following a traffic stop on Oct. 12.
Richardson, who now plays for the Indianapolis Colts, faces a misdemeanor after a traffic stop in Carmel, Indiana, according to FOX59.
“We are aware of the situation involving Anthony Richardson and are currently gathering additional information,” the Colts said in a statement. “We will have no further comment at this time.”
According to court documents obtained by FOX59, the charges were filed on Monday, Oct. 19. The vehicle registration was reportedly expired and assigned to a different vehicle.
Richardson, 24, admitted that he smoked marijuana in the car and told police he possessed a small amount of marijuana. He was allowed to leave without being arrested but received a citation for an expired registration and a summons for possession of marijuana.
A bench trial will be held on Jan. 4.
Richardson, who spent three seasons at Florida, became the starter in 2022. UF went 6-6 after he threw for 2,549 yards and 17 touchdowns and ran for nine scores, leading to him being drafted No. 4 overall by the Colts in the 2023 NFL Draft.
The Colts declined a fifth-year option on Richardson’s contract in April, which will make him a free agent after the 2026 season.
