The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Tajudeen Abbas, on Sunday, unveiled development projects and empowered youths and women in Kaduna State, urging residents to support President Bola Tinubu and Governor Uba Sani in the 2027 general elections.
The projects, covering education, healthcare, road construction and economic empowerment, were unveiled on Sunday across Kubau, Ikara and Zaria local government areas of the state.
Abbas said the interventions were aimed at improving infrastructure, expanding educational opportunities and promoting economic self-reliance among residents.
In Kubau Local Government Area, the Speaker flagged off the construction of a 10-classroom block at Banki Primary School, alongside staff offices, toilets and furniture.
He disclosed that 10 major projects had been earmarked for the area, including male and female hostels at the College of Nursing, Pambegua, a National Open University of Nigeria study centre, a community library, a hall, a rural market and a recreational centre.
Other projects include the renovation of facilities at the College of Nursing and the construction of the Kankia-Kargi Road.
Abbas also proposed additional roads to improve connectivity in the area, including routes linking Kargi, Dokan Maijaki, Kanwa, Haskiya, Kwanar Mainono and Banki.
He assured residents that he would work with the Kaduna State Government to share responsibility for implementing the proposed road projects.
Describing the classroom project as an investment in the future, Abbas urged contractors to use quality materials and adhere to approved specifications.
“The classroom project is an investment in the future of our children. We must ensure that quality materials are used and that the contractors comply with the approved specifications,” he said.
The Speaker said the NOUN study centre would enable workers, teachers, farmers, traders and young parents to pursue further education while attending to their daily responsibilities.
He added that Kubau’s agricultural potential made access to education and modern farming knowledge essential for improving productivity.
In Ikara Local Government Area, Abbas performed the groundbreaking ceremony for a road linking Sani Ahmad Junction to Central Primary School, Ikara.
Other projects in the area include a NOUN study centre, a hall and library, a 12-classroom block with an office and toilets, and a primary healthcare centre.
He said the projects would improve access to education, healthcare and infrastructure while strengthening community development.
Abbas also highlighted federal university-related projects in Kaduna State under Tinubu’s administration, listing the upgrade of the Federal College of Education, Zaria, to a university, the establishment of the University of Applied Sciences in Kachia and the conversion of the Kaduna petroleum institute into a university.
He added that a bill he sponsored had received presidential approval for the conversion of Kaduna Polytechnic into a Federal University of Technology.
The Speaker urged residents to support Tinubu’s re-election bid and Uba Sani’s second-term ambition, while soliciting support for the APC senatorial candidate, Dr Ramalan Yero, and other party candidates in the 2027 elections.
In Zaria, Abbas distributed vehicles, motorcycles and other equipment to youths, women and community groups to support their businesses and economic activities.
“This is not charity. It is an investment in productivity,” he said, explaining that the initiative was designed to help beneficiaries establish sustainable businesses and reduce their dependence on public officials.
He advised the beneficiaries to maintain proper financial records, save part of their earnings, service their equipment regularly and treat their customers well.
“Keep proper financial records, save part of your earnings, maintain your equipment and treat your customers well. These are important steps towards building sustainable businesses,” Abbas said.
He also encouraged the beneficiaries to form cooperatives to reduce operating costs, improve access to markets and strengthen their businesses.
Governor Uba Sani commended Abbas for facilitating development projects and empowerment opportunities across the state.
Sani said the projects and empowerment initiatives would complement the state government’s development efforts, urging residents to support Tinubu, Uba Sani and other APC candidates.
He also urged the beneficiaries to use the items productively, adding that the support should translate into improved livelihoods and economic opportunities
