Alessandro Costacurta has praised Nicolas Gonzalez for the energy he brings to Juventus, explaining that the Argentine winger can lift the performances of those around him when he takes to the pitch.
Gonzalez endured a difficult first season at the club before spending last campaign on loan at Atletico Madrid. The Spanish side were interested in signing him permanently this season, but they could not agree a fee with Juventus.
The Bianconeri were also unwilling to let him leave on another loan, while Luciano Spalletti wanted the player to remain and fight for a place in his team. That decision has started to look positive, with Gonzalez producing encouraging performances under the manager.
Gonzalez earns Juventus’ trust
His recent displays have strengthened his position at Juventus, prompting the club to offer him a new deal just a few days ago. The decision signals that the Bianconeri trust him to play an important role in their plans.
Juventus are pleased to have retained the Argentine despite the interest from Atletico Madrid. His performances over recent weeks have given the club reason to believe he can make a meaningful contribution, particularly through the intensity and commitment he brings to matches.
Gonzalez remains an unpredictable player at times, but his willingness to challenge opponents and work hard can provide a different dimension to Juventus’ attack. Costacurta believes those qualities can benefit the entire team, not just the player himself.

Costacurta highlights Gonzalez’s impact
Speaking via Tuttojuve, Costacurta explained why he appreciates the Argentine’s approach and believes his presence can help his teammates raise their level.
“I’ve seen a difference, and I also speak as a defender: when you come in with Nico Gonzalez’s sincere nastiness, when you have players who go to bet on you and you have 80 minutes on your shoulders, then this thing can happen too. Nico Sometimes he’s so taken that I think he makes mistakes, but he gives a vigor, an energy that I honestly think helps others rise too.”
His assessment recognises that Gonzalez’s aggressive style can sometimes lead to mistakes, but also highlights the positive influence he has on the squad.
Juventus will hope he maintains that level and continues justifying the club’s decision to keep him. If his recent form continues, Gonzalez could become an increasingly important figure under Spalletti.
