Bermuda’s scenery and hospitality have drawn praise from some of the players competing in the 2026 Butterfield Bermuda Championship, with golfers highlighting the island’s blue water, sunsets and friendly welcome.
Speaking during interviews, Ireland’s Seamus Power described an attachment to Bermuda that extends beyond his experiences on the golf course.
He said, “My first time coming here, I actually — honestly, I always tell people this, I thought it was much closer to the Caribbean so I was kind of blown away, it was a totally different vibe than I was expecting. It’s beautiful, the colors of the houses, the color of the water, all that kind of stuff. I just kind of fell in love with the place pretty early on and always felt comfortable on the golf course.”
Ben James, visiting Bermuda for the first time, said the blue water had caught his attention before he even landed.
“First, flying in you see the blue water and I’m like wow, that’s amazing,” he said. “This is what water’s supposed to look like.
“The course is really cool, hotel’s great and everyone’s been super nice around the island,” he added.
Japan’s Kensei Hirata also highlighted the scenery when asked about his impressions of Bermuda, saying “the views are great here, and then seeing the ocean on the back nine. I really love the sunsets here, it’s really beautiful.”
Corey Conners was hoping to experience some of that scenery away from the course. Asked how he planned to spend a free afternoon, he said he would “try and dip my toes in the sand somewhere. Water looks absolutely incredible here.”
Conners also praised the condition of Port Royal, saying: “The golf course is playing great, it’s in wonderful shape and was really a nice day.”
Chandler Blanchet said he had enjoyed staying at the host hotel and taking in the island’s scenery during the drive to the course, describing Bermuda as “a beautiful island.” In a subsequent interview, he praised the “great people, really good community here.”
Greyson Sigg said Bermuda was a destination he looked forward to returning to.
“I like coming here, it’s a cool island. I always kind of look forward to this one on the calendar,” he said.
Defending champion Adam Schenk praised the tournament hospitality, including his hotel arrangements and a champions dinner at Intrepid.
“Went to a nice champions dinner last night at Intrepid which was very fun, food’s incredible,” he said.
Ben Kohles expressed his enjoyment of returning to compete, saying, “I love it here,” before discussing how the course’s conditions suited his approach to the game.
“It is a beautiful place,” said Taylor Moore. “Definitely have some time on some of the greens looking at the water, pretty gorgeous.”
