Shares of Far East Knitting and Dyeing Industries PLC surged 11.96% to Tk20.60 today (15 October), despite the company reporting a net loss in FY26 and halving its proposed cash dividend.
The share price rose following the disclosure of its financial results and dividend recommendation on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE). Under applicable trading rules, the stock had no circuit breaker on the first trading day after the dividend declaration, allowing its price to move without the usual daily limit.
The textile manufacturer posted a net loss of Tk14.62 crore in the fiscal year ended 30 June 2026, against a net profit of Tk37.46 crore in FY25, according to its price-sensitive information. Earnings per share (EPS) fell to negative Tk0.67, primarily due to lower sales and other income.
Despite the loss, the board recommended a 6% cash dividend, equivalent to Tk0.60 per ordinary share of Tk10 each, for FY26, down from 12% in the previous fiscal year.
The company's net operating cash flow per share (NOCFPS) fell to negative Tk3.40, reflecting lower cash receipts from customers and other income alongside higher operating expenses.
Net asset value (NAV) per share declined to Tk19.27 as of 30 June 2026, from Tk21.37 a year earlier.
Shareholders will approve the dividend and financial statements at the company's annual general meeting, scheduled for 23 December on a digital platform. The record date for dividend entitlement is 12 November.
