The hearing on charge framing was scheduled for today. However, accused Hadisur Rahman alias Sagar, who is in jail, was not produced in court. The court therefore postponed the hearing until 8 November.
On 5 November 2024, the case's investigating officer, Additional Special Superintendent of Police KM Abul Kashem of the Criminal Investigation Department (CID), submitted a charge sheet against six people. The charge sheet also recommended dropping charges against 12 others.

Abdullah Al Tasnim Nahid, Engineer Riaz alias Ripon, and Abu Rayhan Mahmud Abdul Hadi, who are out on bail, appeared in court today.

According to the case statement, at around 7pm on 27 August 2014, some assailants rang the doorbell of Faruqi's house.
After the door was opened, two men entered and sat with him in the drawing room. Shortly afterwards, another six or seven people entered the house.

The assailants then tied up everyone in the house and hacked Faruqi to death.
Following the incident, his son Faisal Faruqi filed a murder case at Sher-e-Bangla Nagar Police Station against eight to 10 unidentified people.
