An All Progressives Congress (APC) chieftain in Kogi, Comrade Alex Idoko Ali, has expressed confidence that the party will secure massive support in the state during the 2027 general elections, with voters expected to back President Bola Tinubu and other candidates.
Idoko, who spoke on the state’s political landscape, commended the Kogi State Auditor-General, Alhaji Yakubu Okala, for his engagement with youths, saying grassroots mobilisation was ongoing ahead of the elections.
He said the party was working to mobilise support for its candidates across all levels, from the presidency to the state House of Assembly, predicting a high voter turnout for the APC in Kogi.

The APC chieftain also praised Governor Usman Ododo’s leadership style, describing it as calm and inclusive. He said the governor’s willingness to listen to stakeholders, including members of the opposition, had strengthened support for his administration among party leaders and youth groups.
Highlighting what he described as the achievements of the APC-led government, Idoko cited the establishment of a military barracks in Anyigba, which he said had contributed to efforts to improve security in the state.
He also pointed to ongoing infrastructure projects in the health and education sectors as evidence of the administration’s development efforts.
“The visible presence of government in the state has endeared citizens to this administration. One good turn deserves another,” he said.
Idoko maintained that the government’s investments in security and infrastructure, alongside regular salary payments and efforts to curb political violence, were reasons for continued support for the APC.
He also acknowledged the role of the Chief of Army Staff in efforts to strengthen security and commended Okala for maintaining contact with young people across the state.
On the 2027 legislative elections, the APC chieftain described the senatorial aspiration of Chief Joseph Ameh Erico, whom he identified as a security expert, as significant for the region.
He also expressed support for other APC aspirants, including Hon. Victor Uchola, Hon. Abdullahi Halim and Paul Gowon, describing them as individuals with the experience to represent their constituents.
Idoko reiterated his support for Governor Ododo, saying the administration’s approach to governance and its response to local concerns would feature prominently in the party’s mobilisation efforts ahead of the 2027 elections.
