Caitríona Balfe‘s “Outlander” era is over. The actress bid farewell to the series with the show’s finale in May 2026, after more than 10 years playing Claire Fraser on the Starz series. “Having been on a show for over a decade, my time was always so limited as to what I could do,” Balfe told WWD in March.
Now, the actress is “like a child in a candy store,” taking on new projects, such as the upcoming “Sense and Sensibility” adaptation, and hitting the red carpet afresh with couture, runway and luxury styles aplenty curated by stylist and collaborator Nicky Yates.
“I’m just so grateful that I get to do different things,” Balfe said. “I’m really curious about what else I can do.” WWD breaks down some of those new moments from the actress’ post-“Outlander” chapter ahead.
March 2026
Balfe ushered in her post-“Outlander” era with a farewell to the show at the Season 8 premiere in New York City in March. The actress wore a sleeveless Louis Vuitton gown with some lingerie-style embellishments, including delicate lacy detail along the V-shaped neckline and at the flowing hemline of the dress.
June 2026
The summer saw Balfe get playful with prints at the Serpentine summer party in London. The actress wore an Hermès patterned slipdress with a sleeveless silhouette and ornate design on the fabric.
The midi frock featured an intricate illustrated key pattern, including detailed renderings of the hardware throughout the body of the dress, which was designed with a V-shaped neckline and shift silhouette.
September 2026
In September, Balfe touched down in Toronto, for the Toronto International Film Festival premiere of her film “Tenzing.” The actress turned to London-based label Standing Ground, wearing a design from the brand’s fall 2026 couture collection.
The dress evoked Grecian-style sculptures, with its draped ivory fabric and formfitting silhouette. The sleeveless dress included a train that trailed the actress on the red carpet.
October 2026
For the Los Angeles premiere of “Sense and Sensibility” in early October, Balfe brought Italian luxury fashion Stateside. The actress wore a custom design by Prada — a soft silver-gray gown with a sheer black over lay at the bust that cascaded down Balfe’s back to create a short train.
The sheer black fabric included embroidered botanical elements, adding a touch of whimsy to the restrained look.
