Adamawa State Governor, Ahmadu Umaru Fintiri, has mourned the death of the Executive Chairman of Fufore Local Government Area, Dr. Yahaya Saidu, describing it as a painful loss to the state.
Saidu died on Friday in Kaduna after a brief illness.
The governor, represented by his deputy, Professor Kaletapwa Farauta, extended his condolences to the deceased’s family and the people of Fufore.
Farauta had earlier received the remains of the late council chairman at Yola International Airport before leading a government delegation to Fufore. The delegation included the Chief of Staff, Government House, Yola, Dr. Edgar Amos, and commissioners.
In his condolence message, Fintiri described Saidu as a dedicated public servant whose commitment to democratic governance and grassroots development would be remembered.
“Dr. Saidu was a dedicated public servant, a committed party man and a grassroots leader who demonstrated a genuine commitment to the service of his people and the state.
“He was just settling down to give his best to the development of Fufore at a time when his services were most needed. His death has left a vacuum that will be difficult to fill,” the governor said.
Fintiri noted that the late chairman was known for his humility, diligence and passion for community development, adding that his brief stewardship demonstrated promise and a strong commitment to the welfare of his people.
“On behalf of my family, the Government and the good people of Adamawa State, I extend my deepest condolences to his immediate family, the people of Fufore Local Government Area, his friends and political associates over this painful loss,” he said.
The governor prayed to Almighty Allah to forgive the deceased’s shortcomings, grant him Aljannah Firdaus and give his family and the people of the state the strength to bear the loss.
In his response, the Lamido Fuunange, His Royal Highness, Alhaji Sani Ribadu, said the late chairman had earned the affection and appreciation of his people during his short tenure.
The monarch thanked the government delegation for identifying with the family and the community in their moment of grief. He also expressed appreciation to Governor Fintiri and his Kaduna State counterpart, Uba Sani, for supporting Saidu during his illness.
Funeral prayers for the late council chairman were held at the Lamido Fuunange’s Palace in Fufore.
He is survived by three wives and four children.
