Anti-ECI Protest Live: Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) leaders Saurav Das, Ashutosh Ranka and Ajinkya Shinde have been placed under preventive arrest in connection with a protest at Delhi's Jantar Mantar, where they entered the area without authorisation and raised slogans demanding Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar's resignation. The three were detained early Tuesday after allegedly breaching barricades and entering the protest site, which was recently denotified as a designated venue for demonstrations. Police have registered a case against them on charges including trespassing, violation of prohibitory orders, breach of a peace bond and obstructing a public servant from discharging official duties, sources said. The three are likely to be produced before the Special Court of the Executive Magistrate (SEM) later on Wednesday morning, sources said. In a post on X, CJP leader Ratna Singh said the three were brought to Parliament Street Police Station at 3 am and were not allowed to meet their lawyers. She also said they could face judicial custody in Tihar Jail. Ranka and Das had signed a bond to maintain peace for a year after being detained during an earlier protest in the national capital on October 10. The arrests come amid heightened security in Delhi following a series of protests by the CJP and other organisations against alleged irregularities in the Special Intensive Revision of electoral rolls.
