Integris Health agreed to become part of Kaiser Permanente’s Risant Health, and Hackensack Meridian Health signed a definitive agreement to add Hunterdon Health. Here are three hospital M&A moves that Becker’s reported during the week of Oct. 19:
1. Oklahoma City-based Integris Health signed a definitive agreement to become part of Risant Health, the nonprofit formed by Oakland, Calif.-based Kaiser Permanente in 2023. Risant was created to expand access to value-based care. Integris would be the third health system to join Risant, after Danville, Pa.-based Geisinger and Greensboro, N.C.-based Cone Health.
Integris, which runs 10 acute care and 10 specialty hospitals and employs 13,000 people, will keep its name, brand, medical staff and leadership team. Risant will become its corporate parent once the deal gets regulatory approval.
2. Flemington, N.J.-based Hunterdon Health signed a definitive agreement Oct. 19 to join Edison, N.J.-based Hackensack Meridian Health. The two nonprofit systems signed a letter of intent in June.
Hackensack Meridian will invest $200 million in strategic capital projects at Hunterdon and $30 million to bring its Epic EHR to the system. The merger needs state and federal approvals, including review under New Jersey’s Community Health Care Assets Protection Act and federal antitrust review.
3. Austin, Texas-based Ascension Seton agreed to acquire three north Austin-area facilities from Cedar Park, Texas-based Family Hospital Systems: Family Hospital at Lake Travis, Family Medical Center at Lakeline and Family Medical Center at Round Rock.
Ascension Seton, part of St. Louis-based Ascension, said the deal will expand access to emergency care in Austin’s outer metro area. The transaction is expected to close later this year, subject to customary closing conditions.
